Rooted in the Mountains. Crafted with Purpose.
I'm Zach Ryan, a longtime Summit County local who has built a life around great food and mountain living. I grew up in the Northeast, where my culinary journey began at a young age in my father’s catering kitchen. I was barely tall enough to reach the counter, but I loved grilling and sneaking tastes of new recipes whenever Dad wasn't looking. Those early days taught me that food isn’t just about flavor—it’s about family, community, and the joy of bringing people together around the table.
When I wasn’t in the kitchen, I was outdoors embracing mountain life. From skiing and hiking to soaking in the alpine sunsets, the mountains have always been my playground and my inspiration. My first "real" job as a teenager was actually tuning skis at a local shop, a perfect way to blend my love of adventure with the work ethic I learned in our family kitchen. Whether on the slopes or at the stove, I was always learning and pushing myself.
In the years that followed, I dove headfirst into the world of hospitality. From New England to the Rocky Mountains, I worked in fine dining restaurants, led catering teams, and still spend time ski coaching Summit County youth athletes. Each experience fueled my passion and introduced me to new cuisines and techniques along the way.
After years of honing my craft across the country, I knew I wanted to create something special back home in Summit County. I founded Summit Brunch as a way to share that lifelong passion for food and hospitality with my mountain community. Whether it’s a cozy brunch with friends, an après-ski gathering by the fire, or a multi-course dinner for a special occasion, I pour my heart into every dish I create. Each menu is personalized and seasonal, incorporating fresh local Colorado ingredients along with a few creative twists inspired by cuisines from around the world. I'm constantly inspired by our mountain surroundings as well. Sometimes a morning hike or a powder day on the slopes will spark an idea for a new dish. I like to think that every plate I serve carries a bit of that mountain spirit.
More than anything, I want the Summit Brunch experience to feel authentic, local, and full of love. To me, it’s not just about the food on the table—it’s about the connections made, the comfort you feel, and the memories that linger long after the last bite. I’m incredibly grateful to call Summit County home and to have the opportunity to cook for my friends, neighbors, and visitors in this amazing community.
Let’s cook something unforgettable together. I can’t wait to share my love of food and mountain hospitality with you.
